The original Sydney Futurian Society started meeting in 1939, three years after the convention or meeting of SF fans in England. We revere and respect them for starting Australian Science Fiction fandom at a time when being a Science Fiction fan was a brave and lonely thing. Currently we have indirect links with the members of that first group but it is the spirit of this group that Sydney Freecon Futurians is based.

"For good Science Fiction to be appreciated, imagination must be Free1" Garry Dalrymple .
